X RATED TABLEWARE

SO ME, well-known French graphic artist launched a tableware brand, X RATED TABLEWARE. For his first collection, he featured one of the most historical Japanese porcelain, called Arita porcelain.
The collection features audacious, but elegant graphics on Japanese premium porcelains. This brand will release products as art pieces each season. See the collaboration of one of France’s modern artists and the most premium Japanese porcelain.

数々のアートディレクションを担当してきたフランス人アーティストSO ME (ソー・ミー)が1616年(400年)からの歴史を誇る有田の磁器でTABLEWAREを発表。
「X RATED」でありながら、気品を感じるSO MEのデザインと最高級な有田の磁器で作られた作品はまさにフランスと日本のコラボレーションを意味する。
第1弾として４作品がリリースとなるがシーズン毎に変わる「商品」ではなく普遍的に続く「作品」として継続される。

SO ME (ソー・ミー)

Multitalented French artist, SO ME is the art director at a music label, Ed Banger Records and directed music video such as Justice - D.A.N.C.E, Kanye West - Good Life, MGMT - It’s Working, and Pusha T - Numbers on the Boards. He has also directed a variety of commercials and brand campaigns.

フランスを代表する音楽レーベル「Ed Banger Records」のアートディレクターでもあり、Justice - D.A.N.C.E、Kanye West - Good Life、MGMT - It's Workingや、Pusha T - Numbers On the BoardsなどのMVの監督をはじめ、さまざまなCM / キャンペーンを手掛ける。

ARITAYAKI PORCELAIN (有田焼)

One of the most well-known and the oldest porcelain in Japan is Aritayaki. The porcelain is made in Arita city in the Saga prefecture. The porcelain celebrated its 400 year anniversary in 2016. Instead of soil, porcelain, which is made by baking soils with low-heat, petrous porcelain such Aritayaki is made by baking stones with high-heat. The technique of petrous porcelain was expanded and became popular with European royals by the end of the 17th century. August ll Mocny was one of the most well-known collectors of Aritayaki porcelains. He ordered to innovate porcelain in Germany and this was the beginning of a porcelain brand, Meissen. Aritayaki porcelain was the inspiration to develop the world famous porcelain brand.

佐賀県有田町に作られる磁器。
日本の磁器発祥の地であり、その歴史は2016年に400年の歴史を迎える。
陶器は土質を低温で焼いて作られるのに対し磁器は石質で高音で焼くのが特徴。
17世紀後半にはヨーロッパの王侯貴族にも広がる。
ヨーロッパ最大のコレクターといえば、アウグスト王となるのだが彼はやがてドイツのマイセンで磁器開発を命じる。
これが世界的な磁器ブランド・マイセンの始まりとなる。
